This course introduces fourth year students to oral medicine concentrating on how to collect diagnostic
data by elaborating on the different laboratory investigations. The different medications that could be
prescribed by dentists and mainly oral medicine specialists will be covered besides other main issues.
Third year
  
This practical course is given to Fifth year dental students as an extended course
throughout the first and second semesters. The course emphasizes the clinical course of
Practical Oral Medicine (1) taken in the fourth year. In the first semester students are
required to work in two- partners groups to prepare projects about selected oral medicine
topics and to present these projects in 2-hour seminar to the rest of the group. In the
second semester there will be seminars about all oral medicine topics given during
didactic oral medicine courses. Students are required to participate actively in the slide
presentation of different clinical cases in the form of describing the lesions, providing
differential diagnosis, and planning the treatment.
Fourth year
  
Fourth year dental students are expected to examine patient attending the outpatient dental department
in order to establish diagnosis and provide the appropriate treatment plan. They are also expected to
examine oral medicine cases to establish diagnosis, provide them with treatment after appropriate
investigations. Follow up of oral medicine cases are required.
